When you look at groups like The American Heart Association, Southwest Airlines, and NATO, you may or may not notice that they seem to be the big dogs… and maybe you see yourself as someone who could never have the kind of  leverage they have. Maybe because you see yourself as an underdog?

But just stop for a moment and consider this: What if that underdog status is in fact your untapped leverage when it comes to influencing the powerful people above you?

Here’s something you have likely never considered: Those “big” companies and associations actually use “the underdog” status to leverage getting what they want?

Another one of these charmers who I had given ongoing support to, suddenly decided that I should follow their new gurus wisdom and declare it as the “absolute truth.”  Because I was not willing to engage in a right wrong argument this person is now trying to friend all my friends on facebook telling then that I’m a liar and wait for it, this is a new one, “master demon“.

Now let me be clear, I appreciate that everyone has an opinion and they are entitled to it, and that includes the fact that I do not have to accept what I consider to be abuse.  That being said; so am I…

I’m so done with folks who are upset with the fact that I am in business…

All my life I’ve been dedicated to serving others, often giving away much of my value, to “help” those not able to pay. I’ve always done this with authentically generosity. You see for me if you give with strings attached it is not a gift. That being said, it is also important to pay attention to whether the person receiving what you gift is actually valuing that gift.

After many years of research I can tell you without doubt, unless they have skin in the game, (that person is invested) very little, if anything will happen.

Both my company and myself  are mission driven.  That being said, I am in business and businesses do not run on love, light and wishful thinking. Therefore,  if the fact that I let you know I can serve you better through one of my multiple learning systems, (products or live events) upsets you, feel free to remove yourself from my friends on Facebook, Twitter or my email list. I am sure there is someone else can serve you better.

To everyone who chooses to stay on board; thank you for showing yourself as someone who understands the value of investing in your own growth.

I trust that reading this you will begin to fully own your value,  and to those standing around waiting for a hand out of your time, energy or talent, tell them plain and simple…Piss Off!

No matter how much you give, there will always be those who are going to take shots at you.  I heard a great quote the other day that fits perfectly with my point:

“Dogs don’t bark at parked cars” …

So if they’re dogging you, it means your moving baby!

Some people thought I was upset about the above message, in truth…That person offered me a great gift.: Boundaries are a beautiful thing, and just like everyone else I need to be reminded that I am resop0sible for holding my own.

I would put it to you that living anything less than authentically isn’t really living. (Take a look at the video below) Giving away your value is NOT authentic!  Remember that becoming a true leader demands that you fully and authentically show up.

I have said many times… What I offer isn’t for everyone, and I am more than good with that.

• The first principle of owning the Leadership Mindset is Courage

Leaders do not stand around complaining. They have the courage to step out and take action.

To be a leader you must be willing to ask difficult questions, particularly of yourself.

Unless someone is watching the news and listening to some political pundit complain, most people never really think about leadership – what it is, what it takes or what the effects of great, solid leadership can be. As a result, many times we don’t even realize that we are being presented with the opportunity to lead when we are moving through our everyday situations.

All too often, we don’t even start thinking about leadership and our development as a leader until it is, for whatever reason, suddenly thrust upon us. However, leadership, in its truest form, is not so much a title as a mindset. It is, as Jack Zufelt would call it, a heart-set.

Leadership mindset: Some would describe the leadership mindset as a set of beliefs, values and attitudes directed to empower people. Others speak of leaders being born not made, and that the “mindset” was either there or not. Still other believe that leadership is absolutely dictatorial, a “our leader, right or wrong” position.

We can go many different directions in addressing these attitudes. However, within the confines of this particular article we will look at the mindset of leadership as making a shift in thinking and priorities, which moves your focus from “you” to “us,” from “me” to “we.”

Stay with me if you will, because what I’m suggesting is that the real glory in leadership comes not from what you achieve, but from what you help others to accomplish. It’s a selfless journey into empowering people to step up, to better themselves and perform to their greatest potential.

All of which is demonstrated by you as a leader. A great moment in leadership occurs when you, as a leader, lift someone upon your shoulders to see the previously impossible as a reachable possibility…

Real leaders are champions for others, and “the cause.” … They remove the interference that threatens to block the pathways that lead to peak performance and fulfilling experiences.

Having said all that, and hopefully having inspired you into a greater level of personal leadership, there is one further point I want to touch on regarding embracing a leadership mindset: Despite the media images we are given, at the forefront of great leadership is authenticity. Great leaders are REAL!

The challenge in contemporary leadership is that far too many “leaders” are afraid to offend, and as a result, they bend and twist, until there is little left of the reasons we choose them as leaders in the first place.

In so many businesses and organizations, “leadership” is something people think that you do rather something you are. So many of today’s leaders are nothing more than a robotic façade carrying out a set of functions instead of actually leading. And for my money that is NOT real leadership!

That being said even though their resolve may be absolutely solid, a true leaders are not made of steel.  A true leader is real, and as much as we would like to make them more than human, leaders are as human as any of us; they feel pain frustration and the disappointment that their position naturally brings.

Why, then, are so many leaders paper heroes?
Because as much as companies may demand that people be themselves at work, the unwritten rules in organizations stop that from happening.

Needless to say, there is far more to leadership than I have covered here. What is here is intended to start the wheels of your mind turning as to how you are presented with the opportunity to lead each and every day.

Q: At the End of Next Summer Where Will You Be?

A: I’m Sorry to tell you: Unless You Take Some Very Different Action…You’ll Be Pretty Much Where You Are! (Or worse)

The media are telling us: “Home sales slowed further following an initial drop after the expiration of the home buyer tax credit at the end of June, prompting a slowdown in construction activity.”

An official US unemployment rate that hit 10% last year, and seems set to stay there or thereabouts for months yet, already makes grim reading.

Yet there’s growing concern that even that large and unpleasant number doesn’t do justice to the size and severity of America’s problem with jobs, or the lack thereof.

The manufacturing sector also saw growth slowing in several districts across the US, the Fed said. And if the US sneezes, Canada gets the flu…

Okay, we all know the bubble has burst and what clear once again is: When they told you to get a good job and everything would be great…They Lied!

So what does all this really mean?

In my opinion:

‘Do Not Go Looking For Another Job!

The days of believing that there is such a thing as a steady job are gone…

Instead: Believe it or not, you can now build a life doing the exciting, mind-expanding, joy-creating activities you were born to do. I know because I have a lot of my clients, students and friends who have just that!

Believe me, Ill bet there’s a good chance that you didn’t grow up in a ghetto. And for those of you who did… when you got out, did you fall 10+ stories onto your face? Nah,  Didn’t think so.

Both of those things were as you can imagine massively repressive and I only recommend going through them if you need as big a wake-up call,  as I did…

The Real Cost of Doing Business

Both Business Leaders and Small Business Owners alike are asking that same question.

I’ve been in business a long time, maybe longer than some of my readers have been on the planet.

In that time, as you can probably imagine, I’ve been asked many times about the cost of doing business. It seems that people want to know because they want to know if they can afford it.

It’s a good question: What does it cost to be in business?

Obviously there is the cost of the property you operate out of, (although many folks do business from home these days).  There’s the obvious cost of staffing, although with remote workers many of those costs can be reduced. Then there are fixed costs such as electricity, phone line, internet connection and rent, (even if you operate out of home).

But those aren’t the real costs. Bear with me, because I’m going to share with you the real cost of doing business in this new economy in a moment.

In a few weeks I will be with a great group of teachers sharing our knowledge, insights and strategies so that you can create Quantum Wealthy Mastery in your life. I’m not going to go into details about the event here; there’s no sales job in this article. (In fact it may even put some people off the idea of going into business.)

You can simply Click Here if you want more info. What I will tell you is that an hour after I went to bed for my night’s sleep, I was awakened with inspiration to write this article.

As you would imagine, many of the people attending this event with either be in business or looking to start some kind of business. As I step on the stage to speak (maybe to you!), I want to make sure that I am in full integrity about what it takes to create success, in this case, financial success.

That being said, let’s assume you do want to be in business and you’ve got enough money to start. Let’s also assume you are even willing to put in the hours, which will, without doubt, far exceed the hours you ever put in working a job. So let’s get into the real meat and spuds of it.

There is another cost that you will want to consider seriously before going into business. It’s a cost that will become more and more evident in the new economy.

Let me warn you: It’s a cost you must seriously weigh before you make a commitment.

As you can no doubt tell, there are still signs of the old-guard cut-throat, massively competitive business model around. It may even have legs for a little while longer, nonetheless, those legs are getting more and more wobbly by the moment.

The great news is, there is a new model for doing business that is emerging. It is a model that I believe will challenge the hell out of the old guard.

The new model is one rooted in The Three Cs of the new economy:

Cooperation, Collaboration, and Contribution.

And at the center of this new model is a theme that today’s generation will come to expect, the central and very necessary cog for doing business in the new economy, another very important C–Caring!

This isn’t the old corporate rhetoric of saying “We care.” No, what I’m talking about here is actually giving a shit about the people you do business with.

Social media, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the hundreds of other social media sites have changed the distance between people. They have allowed people who were vague icons off in the distance to become people you can reach out to in as little as 140 characters and surprisingly they will, and most often do reach back.

Today’s rock, pop, and movie stars are made through the relationships they build on-line. Tomorrow’s business will be built in just the same way. (It’s already happening!)

So when you ask me: “What is the cost of doing business?” I’ll tell you…

“It’s 1:43a.m. right now, on a work day, and I’m writing this to YOU, yes YOU! Why? Because I genuinely give a shit!

The real cost of doing business today is that you must genuinely give a shit about your customers, you must treat them with the respect of being people rather than ‘buying units.’”

Bottom Line:

“If you don’t want to be relational, then you, my friend, no matter how much money you have, cannot afford the cost of doing business today!”

Does this make sense to you?

Here’s an example.  “The 5 Foundations of Building Wealth From The Inside Out” is an eBook I wrote. People have found great value in it.  One of  those foundations for being truly successful is that you must be genuinely relational. If you think it’s a marketing phase, think again…

Keep this in mind.

You have to be willing to do what it takes to show someone you genuinely care, even if there is nothing in it for you.

Yes, I’m giving it to you for FREE, (it sells on Amazon for $47). It’s a great example of what I’m talking about. Look, even if you have previously bought it and you’ve already read it, let me suggest that you read it again. Everything has changed in the new economy and I think you’ll discover that what that book says is even more relevant than when I wrote it some years ago.

Make no mistake, I’ve had 25+ years in business, and I’ve seen a lot of changes. Some of those changes have been in my inner world. For instance, in 1990 I fell off a mountain and got smashed to pieces. Then about five years ago, something else changed that was indefinable to me. However, I knew both myself and my industry had changed forever.

Hang on, I’ll explain… At that time I was working with a consultant who was always trying to get me to be distant from my students, clients and customers. I would regularly piss him off because I am all about relationships and so I would make myself available.

Needless to say, that chap and I parted ways. It was then when I re-emerged with a clean commitment:

Show people we care; always give them more than they expect while providing them with tons of value. Simply put–we will always let our customers, clients and students experience that we genuinely give a shit about them.

And that’s what it’s all about. In the new economy, the real cost of doing business is that you must be willing to be in relationship with your customers. You must be willing to genuinely give a shit.

My question to you, dear reader, and everyone you know who has in some way interacted with us is this:  Do you get it that I (Dov Baron) and  my company Baron Mastery Institute genuinely care about you… that we genuinely give a shit?

The 3 I’s of Masterful Leadership

You’ve heard it said that “Knowledge is power.”
Is it really?

Imagine for a moment that you are the leader of your company, department or even a government. Now maybe you are and maybe you’re not, but just bear with me.  Picture and feel the pressure of knowing that you are faced with a major decision and you need information in order to take action.  You gather all your people and appropriate all the knowledge you can possibly get your hands on that pertains to the decision you must make…

Now, having gathered all that knowledge; what do you have? According to the knowledge is power theory, you now have power.  While in truth you and I know that what you really have is a pile of knowledge.

Just for the record, and before I go any further, let me say this–Leaders, real leaders who follow the C.O.R.E. Affluence System of Leadership understand that knowledge alone is not power. However, don’t take my word for it:

As I’m sure you’ve noticed we live in the information age. This is a time when even the poorest person can have access to more knowledge that even the richest person had just twenty years ago.

Don’t get me wrong; this access is information is wonderful. Never before have we had more knowledge, yet, at the same time what I see is an even great propensity toward inaction and procrastination. All these people with all this knowledge and so many of them are sitting around waiting…for something.

Why is this? Why is it that if knowledge is power and poor people have access to more information that even the wealthiest person twenty years ago, why aren’t all the poor wealthy?

You like me have got to have wondered; what’s going on? What it all boils down to is this: Most people are afraid to take action because they are afraid they don’t have enough information and as a result they do nothing, telling themselves that when they get that right piece of information they will forge ahead. Ironically, all this knowledge that they already have creates a bottleneck on the road to action.

Let’s face facts.  Knowledge has become the new magic wand–get enough of it and poof! everything works. But we all know that’s just not true! It’s just another level of magical thinking.

Information/knowledge is obviously important. In fact it is the first “I” in the three “I”s of masterful leadership. However, information on its own often is nothing more than mental masturbation for the ego. It’s a way of bragging that “my info is bigger than yours.”

What’s needed is the second “I” of masterful leadership–”Implementation.”
Everything we teach is based on The C.O.R.E. Affluence System. My research has shown quite clearly that all great leaders, knowingly or otherwise, use the C.O.R.E. Affluence System.

In a previous article I stated that the first level of the “C” in C.O.R.E. stands for “clarity.” In that piece, I said that a great leader must have clarity of purpose. Great leaders know specifically what they want and why they want it! That being said, once leaders have that clarity, they will need the second level of the “C” in C.O.R.E., which is “courage.”

“Talent or knowledge without a commitment to action is often nothing more than the mindless fantasies of a coward who lives in the buoyancy of possibility without ever having to risk rejection”. ~Dõv Baron…

Therefore knowledge is not power!

Information plus implementation generates power.

Or said another way: “Information without Implementation is worth the hole in the donut”.

Many years ago, I remember working with a client who was on the very brink of making a quantum leap in her finances.
This lady had this wonderful idea which we had worked on and really refined. She took the project by the reigns, did the leg work, did the research, and then found the investors.

The excitement was building, and with, her dreams started to get bigger. Finally the negotiations were over, the deal was done. All that was left to do was getting a signature, and then suddenly, it all started to go south. You may be wondering: Why?

In an instant this person started to talk herself out of doing the very thing she’d been dreaming of doing for years.
Why would anyone do that you ask… Simple answer, FEAR!

Maybe you can relate… Have you had that experience, where you were just about to get what you want…and towards the end you let fear take over?

Over the last year, the media has been feeding us some very sticky  “stuff” around how there’s not going to be enough, (of anything, especially money). Let’s face it, they did a wicked job in convincing the majority of people that the current economy was in the toilet, and about to be flushed. Every five minutes the media tells us about the high unemployment rate, closures and credit crisis just to name a few. If you start buying into these media messages, it’s easy to start creating fears around your ability to create real abundance and true wealth and this of course will keeps us stuck!

One certain way to predict your future is to live in fear!

Because If You Fear It, It Will Come!

Here’s what’s interesting for me: Many of the people I know in business, did indeed start off the year with some adjustment needed in how they did business. However, every single one of the people that I know who have made changes that can now see needed to be changed earlier, are now, less than a year later, doing brilliantly. What’s the difference between them and the average guy or gal? They were willing to change and adjust what was no longer working.

Those who adjust the fastest make the most.

They didn’t wait to adjust. Here’s what is equally interesting…Even though they adjusted, not one of them backed off on their investment in themselves or their business.

So the question becomes:

Have you, consciously or unconsciously, cut back on investing in yourself and your business in order to fulfill the prophecies of the media?

Listen, they don’t run your life, unless you let them. Take back the reigns, do what you know you must do. Master your own “Attracting Force”.

Have you ever been to the desert? The desert is an enigma!

Get there in the middle of summer, the ground is cracked and dry, and if there is a breeze it is a hot one that whips up the top layer of what was soil and turns it into burning dust. Sometimes, years lapse between rainfalls. Can you imagine how dried up and lifeless the desert appears after two, three, five years without rain?

Having visited the desert in the summer and observed the lifeless landscape, it seemed unbelievable when I was informed that in spring, there would be an abundance of flowers…It seemed as unrealistic as a person looking at their empty bank account and trying to believe that there would be an abundance of funds flowing into it soon. There again:

The dreamer cannot explain the process of dreaming to one who refuses to dream.

Can you imagine, I actually went back to the desert again in the spring, and it was breathtaking! Where there had been dried up lifeless dust just months before now flourished with streams and a blanket of the most magnificent colored flowers as far as the eye could see. I even remember seeing a tree that on my previous visit had been curious about how long it had been dead. If it wasn’t for it precise location, I would not have believed I was looking at the same tree. It was miraculously transformed as if the metaphorical hand of God had reached down from heaven and brought it back to life creating leaves that glistened from collected dew, flirting with the dance of soft pedaled blooms, out of this world!

However, standing in the desert on a hot summer’s day it can be hard to believe all kinds of things like: The temperature will drop towards freezing at night, streams will run through, flowers and life in so many forms will wash across what looks like desolate land. Even so, all these things do happen, and they happen almost every year.

The desert, like you, is filled with limitless potentiality for that abundance, which given the right circumstances, transforms from bare ground to overflowing wealth.

My question to you are: What magnificent abundance waits within you?

What massive level of success is waiting to show up given just the right circumstances?

Over the last five or six posts I have read some amazing, vulnerable and powerful feedback from you guys and gals. I have to tell you that each and everyone of your responses is to me a sweet smelling flower in the desert and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your impact and both me and your fellow reader.

Is it possible to live a life that is Happy, Abundant and Successful in a time of “recession” or is that just a ‘new age’/Pollyanna form of denial?

To answer that question we would have to know what success is.  Is success measured by a better car, bigger home, more stuff?

I’m pretty sure that that if your reading this blog then you are likely to be the kind of person who would say “of course not”. However, you live in this world of ‘stuff’: So is there anything wrong with having stuff?

Right now take a moment, really let this soak in and see how it feels to you:

Stuff is stuff, it’s nothing more than stuff until you attach a feeling/meaning to it.

If you make more ‘stuff’ the only way for you to know you have success, then you become attached to the stuff because without it you will see yourself as a failure. This of course will bring up all kinds of fears and as I said in a previous posting “fear is a powerful force for manifestation”.

Here what you will want to let in: “We are not separate from each other“ this is not a theoretical ideology, it a fact proven time and again in the field of quantum mechanics. We, you, me, all of us contribute to a collective consciousness that in turn feeds back into each and everyone of us.  As separate as we tell ourselves we are, we are in fact: community.

Therefore if you want abundance, (please excuse my graphic metaphor) but… if you want abundance to flow into your life: Don’t pee into the drinking water!

Just like there is a constantly connected ecology to the resources of this planet that says if we pollute the water it effects everything that takes in that water. Every plant and insect that lives on the plants and every animal that lives on the plants and insects is affected and in turn whether we are aware of it or not so are we.

Just like that ecological cycle works in an up and down manner, there is also an ecology of consciousness… Every time we pollute the field of consciousness that we are all connected to with our anger, frustrations, hate and LACK,  we feed the quantum equivalent of toxic waste into the quantum field and the biggest of all emotional, mental toxic waste is the one all the others are disguising… FEAR.

So ask yourself if you are in the business of manufacturing fear for the mental emotional consumption. If not, you might want to think about what you truly want to be adding to the quantum pool we all mentally and emotionally drinking from.

I believe it was Franklin D Roosevelt who said: “We have nothing to fear but fear its self”

Fear is what puts us in recession. The more fear we run the more we close down the flow of abundance. This lack mentality pours into the quantum field that we all mentally and emotionally consume.

So my friends I say to you, think again, I challenge you to; think of all the abundance you already have in all its forms rather than just the form of stuff and return to gratitude.

Fear Is The Dream Killer…

and no economic ‘situation’ is worth your dreams. Live a life that is to be envied not for its stuff, but for its passion, its undying belief that “it is possible” and that you were the one who showed others that out on the limb is where the fruit is sweetest.

Is it your family relationships, or relationships with friends?

Is it money, business and or abundance?

When it comes to your personal development: What do you really care about?

Here’s the second question: Why? Why do you really care about what it is you say you care about? (Hey, don’t be flip, put down your real answer not some crap you think you should write.) I want real answers from those who are willing to be real.

Number 3} How much are you willing to invest in that development on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis? We’re not just talking dollars we’re talking about time, energy, commitment.

Number 4} What do see is the #1 thing that is lacking in the Personal development/personal growth industry?

Number 5} What would you add to the industry that would really support you in your growth? And what would you be willing to invest in that on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis? (Again, we’re not just talking dollars we’re talking about time, energy, commitment.
