To much Turkey

I know it’s rather obvious but, is Thanks Giving really about eating like you are wearing a pair of elastic waistband pants?

Or drifting off into a turkey/tryptophan induced sleep while watching some sporting event on TV?

You and I both know it’s not.

Then why, since we know better, is it that so many of us end up in this oh so familiar place?

Does Gratitude have a place in Leadership?

I actually think it’s rather strange that we need an official holiday to remind us to be thankful?

While I also know that in an ever increasing busy world it is so easy to take for granted that which has the greatest value.

Many of you who read my posts don’t live in the US and for you there’s no such holiday as “Thanksgiving.” However, no matter where in the world you are, this article is for you, because I would like you to please accept my gratitude for you. As you read on you’ll know why I’m specifically talking to you.

For most people the holiday season is a little insane, and in all likelihood, you’re probably busier than a one armed mom with newborn triplets.
However, I trust that you will see that investing a few minutes to read this article will prove well worth your time.

Clearly at this time of year, the majority of people run around like chickens with their heads cut off doing more and more, while feeling less and less connected, to themselves or anyone else.

So right now…Just for a minute or two,  stop!  Take a moment and ask yourself to be totally honest while answering the following question:

How much time do you spend in genuine gratitude?

In today’s hectic lifestyle there is a good chance that you, like most people, you are likely running on empty! I get it, I’ve been there myself.

So in a crazy, hectic world, what can we do to fill up a little?

I want to help you out: Right now, forget everything for a couple of minutes and listen…

STOP and take a moment to become aware of the blessings in your life.

You need to stop skimming for a moment and really take this in, because when I say “gratitude” I’m talking about the real stuff, the all-meat, a real treat, genuine heartfelt, preferably eyeball-to-eyeball or at least heart-to-heart connection.

In other words, thanks delivered with real meaning rather than some perfunctory, verbally text “thanx.”

One way of recognizing what you have and genuinely appreciating it comes from stopping and considering all the things that go by each day that can so easily get taken for granted:

Big Smile

•    The smile on a child’s face as they say “hello” or “goodbye’” to you.

•    Getting a call from your partner, friend, sibling, or family member to genuinely ask how you are doing.•    Being able to breathe and smell the flowers or maybe the coffee.

•    How about gratitude for having the strength to do what you need to and desire to do?

•    Or knowing there is someone, somewhere who loves you.

•    Or receiving kindness, whether it was a smile, food, a kind word, a gentle kiss, or even this article.

What I’m saying in the simplest terms is; return to a state of gratitude. Grateful…To be Full of Greatness

My biggest “Thank you” is always to my beloved bride, best friend and partner, the sweetness in my life and my guru of kindness, my inspiration, my muse, my Queen: Renuka. Each day I am grateful for her and for the work I did to clear my poop in order to attract this amazing woman into my life more than a decade ago.

Renuka, you are the light in my heart, my greatest inspiration and biggest supporter. You have held me when I could have been crushed and in that moment, your love and strength kept me walking my path when I felt crippled. Thank you!

You may want to take action on what you’ve read here… Why not take out your pen and journal and write a list of whom and what you are grateful for.

Once you have done that, I would suggest that you buy some thank you cards and write notes of gratitude. At least send an email or make a phone call to those people. (I like cards because some people are uncomfortable taking in gratitude and nobody can interrupt or dismiss the written word).

Be grateful to those who treated you with kindness, love and understanding. Be equally thankful to those who have challenged you beyond your comfort zone because they love you enough to risk having you dislike them.

Over the last little while, I’ve been sharing with you a personal and professional leadership series, I trust that you have found these lessons stimulating and valuable.

Okay, lets dive right into it… There’s a good chance at one point or another you have had the misfortune of  having to deal with a leader who was to put it NOT so delicately deficient, ( at least in leadership skills).

However, I wonder if you have ever worked with a boss who had “deficiencies” and used those “deficiencies” to become a great leader?  Sound ridiculous?…read on!

Whether you like these leaders or not there are certain common character traits that show up in leaders as varied as Gandhi, Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, and the newest whiz kid Mark Zuckerberg, and every leaders in these world has these traits.

As I spoke about in the articles like:  “Developing Leadership Mindset”,  “You, The Leader” And particularly in the articles; “Masterful Leadership”& “The Third “I” of Masterful Leadership” , leadership traits are many and varied Just three of those traits are their Perseverance, Commitment and their willingness to take risk. In a true leader all of these are in the name of inspiring others and by whatever means, make the world a better place.

How do we know about leaders such as the ones I just mentioned? Well the easy answer is they have achieved some things and as a result got some level of notoriety. But the question worth considering is, where they leaders before they had notoriety?

I would suggest to you the answer is a resounding YES!

Do you get that, do you understand that Perseverance, Commitment and Risk Taking are what you need to become a leader of notoriety. These traits are they very essence of what you will need when you fall down, or get knocked down. Believe me, you will stumble, trip and even fall on your way to the success you dream of… Or, on occasion, and this can be a huge trap, you might even have the thought that you’re not worth it, because there’s some obvious or hidden deficiencies about you.

In truth, this happens to every single one of us and we have to, HAVE TO, keep going and value the best qualities we have.

Consider these deficient weirdos as examples: Mark Zuckerberg, is color blind. He built the fastest growing social network on the planet. But here’s what you likely don’t know; Facebook also has one of the best accessibility feature for blind or color blind people.

Steve Jobs (Apple) and Richard Branson (Virgin) are both dyslexic and yet they built multi-billion dollar businesses. Apple employs an estimated 75,000 people world wide and that does not include all the subsidiary companies and Virgin employs more than 50,000 people in 30 different countries.

It is important to really get this, YOU ARE GOING TO stumble, trip and fall on your way to success… So what! Now let yourself imagine what you would achieve if you keep going. Think about how you can change and inspire the world if you get up and keep going knowing that you will make a difference not only to your life but to the many lives that you will touch either directly or indirectly.

Look my friend, we all have some “deficiencies”, but you know what, that doesn’t make us less “valuable” than the person beside us. You have what it takes to become a great leader!  Instead of using your “deficiencies” as an excuse to quit, use them as a reason to make a difference.

What You Judge as Crazy Maybe a Key to Massive Success

Well guess what, those who embraces their own brand of craziness are the one who are usually the ones who become the most outrageously successful!

Look, I am willing to go to the edge and I’m the first to admit that some folks think I’m nuts, and you know what; I’m okay with that.

Being considered crazy and being willing to be a little outrageous is a powerful asset and may be it’s time for you to embrace that? But don’t take my word for it, take a look at this…

On Monday, February 21st, 2011 Sir Richard Branson, the Chairman of Virgin Group, was scheduled to cross dress as an Air Asia stewardess on a charity flight from London to Kuala Lumpur.

Now, I’m sure you’re thinking “why the heck would a billionaire like Sir Richard Branson cross dressed as stewardess?”

Well, stay tuned because this story is not only funny, but also a great lesson in leadership.

Richard Branson made a bet with Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of Air Asia X – the fastest growing no-frills airline in Asia, over whose Formula One team would finish higher in this season’s standings – Virgin Racing or Lotus. Much to Richard’s disappointment he lost the bet!

Result: Sir Richard Branson, cross dressed as an Air Asia stewardess on a charity flight from London to Kuala Lumpur.

Here’s the point that you will want to let sink in.  Branson is one of the most successful businessmen on the planet and one of the reasons is because has consistently challenged his comfort zone and as a result has experienced outrageous success.

Want more outrageous levels of success?   Don’t be afraid to look foolish…

It’s part of what made Branson Billionaire!… That being said you might want to try a little crazy on!

Stay with me and lets take this a level deeper:

Maybe you’ve had an experience where you had a great idea, that you know will change many people’s lives and in the process bring you more joy too…

And even though you knew your idea was golden, you gave it up, walked away, because ‘they’ said it was crazy?

You know how frustrating is that, especially when you walk into some major store or turn on late night TV only to see your “crazy” idea right there in the market place, and you know; someone is making a ton of dough that you turned your back on?

Do NOT take advice from those who have proved themselves to be fools, lest you become and even bigger one for listening.  It doesn’t matter what other people tell you. What matters is how you feel when you doing what you love and achieve your goals.

Despite the messages you have received I want you to know that there’s a genius in you and you need to know that all genius is at first ridiculed.

Want to step up to the next level of leadership in your life?… Take a leaf out of Sir Richard Branson’s book…. It’s time for you to get your crazy on!

So let me ask you: When WAS the last time you did something Crazy or Outrageous?  Something you were afraid of doing? Something that would test the limits of what you think you are capable of?  Maybe it’s something you’ve been putting off or telling yourself you couldn’t do?

When was the last time you made a commitment to do something that would crash through your comfort zone, even if it didn’t work?
If it’s been a while since you scared the crap out of yourself with a HUGE OUTRAGEOUS  action for your business or personal leadership success then I’d like to challenge you to do something today that is BIG.

Come on think of something that you’ve been considering for a while… and creating an ever increasing list of excuses to avoid.

End Bullying!

I am happy to see so many people are stepping into a leadership role with regard to posting blogs, teaching seminars and generally raising awareness about the implications of our children being bullied or becoming bully’s…

That being said: May I suggest that we all take a look at the bigger picture around bullying.

Maybe you yourself have experienced what it feels like to be bullied, not just as a child but even as an adult…

Imagine for a moment that you overheard someone speaking about you, or something you supposedly did.  You know for sure that this person does not really know you, they certainly do not know your circumstances or the true nature of your character.

Nonetheless, here they are using their words to to attack you, your character, or your physicality. In that moment, don’t you feel bullied?

Let’s face it a bully exerts power over someone who feels powerless to do anything about it!

Whether directly or indirectly our words can be used to bully and damage another.

“Sticks and stones can break our bones but gossip really wounds us!” ~Dõv Baron

You know as well as I do that at it’s core bullying  is a process that chips away at the self worth of another, until they feel ashamed and not good enough.

Doing this we dehumanize another and we treat the person being bullied as if they have no soul. In so doing we have moved away from our own true compassionate nature and into soulless behaviour.

When someone who does not truly know you speaks poorly of you or your situation, we call it “harmless gossip”. What I am suggesting is that in order to raise our own awareness as leaders of our families and our communities we need to call it by it true name: bullying! I myself, I am ashamed to say have been guilty of this and I urge you to also consider raising your own awareness around this kind of behaviour.

Let’s remember that everyone from the homeless to the most famous celebrity have a soul. Despite what we hear or are told, let’s remember that we do not ever fully know who someone is or why they did a certain thing at a certain time.

Every time we gossip or add to the gossip about someone we do not personally know, (IE a celebrity) we are in fact bullying…

Isn’t NOW the time to step up to the next level of behavioural awareness? To be a leader who has the courage to NOT do what seems okay, but rather, step into excellence?

She had a sparkle in her eye and deep admiration in her voice as she spoke. “You are so great. I wish I had what you have.”

Rosa Parks: The Gonads to Lead!

As deeply grateful as I was for the compliment, I asked, “What does that mean?” The young lady who was telling me how great I am went on to say that she just doesn’t have that kind of greatness within her.

Leaning down slightly, I looked her straight in the eyes and asked, “Have you always been a liar?”

Clearly shocked and quite defensive she retorted, “I don’t lie!”

“Oh really? Then what do you call what you just said?”

She said that she wasn’t lying about what she said about me.  I told her that the lie was what she said about herself.

Look I know this may come as a bit of a bombshell to you, but despite what you may have believed, greatness is not reserved for the few…

Greatness is available to all who are willing to claim it.  Sadly, few have the gonads to take a stand and claim their own greatness.

When you first step up and begin taking a stand, you may be seen as weird or a freak.  Some people will tell you that you are getting too big for your boots and suggest that you should tone it down.

So let me ask you– Do you know what you stand for?  Are you willing to stand and fight for it, even if no one understands?

The simple truth is it doesn’t matter if no one else believes; you must believe with all your heart, all your soul and all your might that you are here with a purpose. When you do this, all excuses including time, money and other people’s opinions immediately die!

To give it to you between the eyes–

Are you going to keep believing what others say is impossible? Or are you willing to be a Rosa Parks, Thomas Edison, a Guglielmo Marconi, a Werner Heisenberg, a Roger Bannister, a Wright brother about what it is that you came here to do?

“With a single shift from ‘impossible’ to ‘I’m Possible’ people do what others consider impossible everyday. Avoid believing other peoples’ limitations.” ~Dov Baron

Is where you are where you want to be? Is where you are where you see yourself continuing to be? Or are you brave enough, enough of a leader to dream a bigger dream of your reality and act upon it with the faith, power and sweat to make it happen? Do you love life enough to want even more of it? Or are you just looking to ease the pain of where you are now?

Seriously, put some thought into this. What are you waiting for? Nothing and no one is coming to rescue you. Those who know the sweet nectar of true success understand that it was worth the effort, even in the moments where they wanted to quit.  While others are complaining, the true leader is finding better ways and working at becoming better with those better ways.

Do you want your relationships, your work, your life to matter? I believe that you have a responsibility to make not only your life better, but also the lives of those you touch.

Take care of your dreams; protect them for they are sacred.  Remember that those who have given up on their dreams cannot fully support you in yours. They will tell you it can’t be done because they did not have the courage to do it themselves.

So instead of wishful thinking or running excuses about why it can’t be done, RIGHT NOW recall a moment in your own history or the history of someone you know when you saw the impossible occur! Put your focus there, because it will help you understand that what you once believed to be impossible is, in fact, possible.

I have to say it is one of the great blessings of my life to see folks crush their fears and limitation so that they can fly to their dreams. One of the most wonderful gifts of being who I am and doing what I do is that at our Claim Your Competitive Edge event I get to guide people just like you to directly experience that what they had previously considered impossible become possible.

Let’s set something absolutely straight: Money is not wealth.

Money is a result of your efforts at work or even what seems to be good fortune, but it is not wealth of itself. Wealth is a state of mind where you experience abundance in every part of your life.

To have more
money you must first have wealth, at least at a consciousness level.

You see, just as money is not wealth, therefore the lack of it is not poverty. Wealth and poverty start in your mind and result in your bank account.

When a person has poverty consciousness, there is a part of them that is uncomfortable with having an abundance of money and, as a result, they subconsciously set themselves up to get rid of it.

Sound crazy? look at this:

In many of my previous articles I’ve spoken about our quantum resonance field (QRF) and that our QRF is responsible for all the recurring patterns in our lives. Unfortunately, these patterns are often negative, or at least out of sync with your true desires. This means your QRF could without you even knowing it be pushing what you want away.

The best way to change these patterns is change your QRF and you can begin doing that right now by asking yourself some great questions like:

• What have I believed about people who have money?
• What beliefs have I accepted about myself just because someone else told me they were true?

These are just a couple of questions that can put you on the path to changing your QRF and therefore changing what you attract into your life.

I want to share with you what I discovered after years of research.

It’s not nearly as important how you go about “making
money“, as it is what you feel about wealth and money. It makes all the
difference.

You may have heard things like that before, but it just didn’t make sense to your “logical” mind. I mean you have to work hard to make a lot of money…right? Actually that’s wrong!

In fact, depending on your attitude toward work and money, the harder you work, the worse off you can become!

So, if you’d like to possess the thing every self-made millionaire in the world has (and it’s not $), you’ll need to Resonate Riches.

I know that many of you who read my articles don’t live in the US and for many, where you live there is no such holiday as ‘Thanksgiving‘. However, where ever you are I am sending you my gratitude.

I know this article is a bit longer than usual but I think you will see that by investing a few minutes to read will prove well worth your time.

No matter what country we live in, right now let me ask you this:  

How much time do you spend in genuine gratitude?

On a daily basis most people you are bombarded: There seems to be a million new things to do every day and so you try and catch a little down time.  Maybe you turn on the telly only to once again be assaulted with the doom and gloom of what we are told is a failing economy.

Most of the time, most people run around like chickens with their heads cut off doing more and more, feeling less and less connected to themselves or anyone else. The result is that most people are running on empty!

In a crazy hectic world what can we do to fill up a little?

Right now let me challenge you to STOP and take a moment to become aware of the blessings in your life.

There is a wonderful ‘new’ movement of interest in manifestation.

Perhaps you have read about it in my books or have heard me talk about it either at a workshop or in a tele-program: Quantum Resonance energy is the necessary ingredient for manifestation.

Well, one of the most powerful quantum energies for manifestation is gratitude. 

Now please pay attention; by gratitude I mean genuine heartfelt, preferably eyeball-to-eyeball or at least heart-to-heart connection. In other words, delivered with real meaning rather than some perfunctory…”thanks”.

We live in a time of pusuing more and more, and there is nothing wrong with wanting more of your heart’s desires. 

However, recognizing what you have and genuinely appreciating it does not have to be built around the complacency of; ‘I don’t have the right to ask for more, I’m so much better off than those less fortunate’.

Think of all the things that go by each day that can so easily get taken for granted; the smile on a child’s face as they say ‘hello’ or ‘goodbye’ to you.

Getting a call from your partner, friend, sibling, or family member to genuinely ask how you are doing. Being able to breath, smelling the flowers or even coffee. How about, having the strength to do what you need to and desire to do.  Or knowing there is someone, somewhere who loves you.  Receiving kindness, whether it was a smile, food, a kind word, a gentle kiss, or even this article.

I’ve been speaking around the world to thousands of people for many years now and I want to stop and say:

This Thanksgiving I am grateful for you… Yes you!

You see I have a dream…

My dream is to raise consciousness. Now you may be saying; ‘what the heck does that mean’? Raising consciousness means being able to assist people all over the world in knowing that they are truly powerful, that you have the power to create the life that your heart and soul cries out for.

I am truly grateful to you because through you I get to live my dream, my purpose, my mission. You, my friends, spiritual family, students and unstopable team are the fuel that moves me forward. I know that I am the voice of something bigger than myself and you carry that voice to the world and in so doing, share in my mission, my dream, my purpose.  I am truly grateful because maybe, just maybe, I have had some influence in waking up your soul, in inspiring your heart, in letting you know you are truly magnificent!

I am grateful to you…You, who are committed to growth. You, who are no longer willing to settle for mediocrity. You, who stand up and fight to be free, even from the prison of your mind.

I suggest that once a year: Take out your pen and journal and write a list of whom and what you are grateful for.

Once you have done that you can go and buy some thank you cards and write a note of gratitude, or at least send an email or make a phone call to these people. (I like cards because some people are uncomfortable taking in gratitude and nobody can interrupt or dismiss written words).

Someone said to me once ‘it must be wonderful to touch all these people’s lives’.  My reply was and still is that it is wonderful, however what is equally wonderful is that you touch mine just as much.

Thank you from the depths of everything I am and all I can become.

         Remember, nothing can crush you unless you allow it…
